Last night, Dylann Storm Roof entered the historic Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in downtown Charleston, South Carolina, sat through an hour-long meeting, and then opened fire on those in attendance. Reverend Clementa Pinckney, a state senator, was among nine individuals who were killed. Many are shocked at not only the grisly nature of the shooting, but also its location. “There is no greater coward,” Cornell William Brooks, president of the N.A.A.C.P, declared in a statement, “than a criminal who enters a house of God and slaughters innocent people engaged in the study of scripture.” Yet this experience is unfortunately, and infuriatingly, far from new: while black churches have long been seen as a powerful symbol of African American community, they have also served as a flashpoint for hatred from those who fear black solidarity, and as a result these edifices have been the location for many of our…

Interracial Dating – Pre and present
Interracial dating has always been looked upon with raised eyebrows. Let’s accept this, despite the increasing globalization, there are some people that don’t accept other traditions and cultures. However, it is worth mentioning that such occurrences have certainly reduced over the course of time. Thanks to the inception of interracial dating sites, people can now interact with like – minded individuals seeking companion of a person belonging to another race.
Interracial dating in the pre 1967 era
In case you’re aware of the historic events that led to the scrapping of federal laws pertaining to interracial marriages, you’d also know that interracial dating was considered a criminal offence then. People that were caught were regarded as criminals under the American law. While some states prohibited white from marrying non – whites, others were against the blacks. This racism led to an intense revolution in…

I don’t really understand why people are linking this act of racism (& terrorism) to mental illness. They are two different things. I’m having trouble grasping that theory. Lot of people with actual mental illness (i.e. Downs Syndrome, Autism, tbi) are loving people. It makes
us look bad.
The guy who shot up the church in #Charleston he’s a THUG, a RACIST, a DOMESTIC TERRORIST. STOP EXCUSING PEOPLE BY SAYING THEYRE MENTALLY ILL, people like him are not mentally Ill!!!!!!!!
Sometimes it’s not easy to get me excited. I’ve been through a lot, and I do a lot. I like to be busy because it helps me stay out of trouble. However, it’s not easy, and planning can be a logistical challenge. Let’s see. The library, the transportation alliance, the garden, bicycling… How do I keep up?
I get some sleep, however, there is much more.
1. This is how I get my vitamins. It’s delicious, nutritious, and only 2 grams of sugar!
2. Of course, coffee plays a big role, and what is better than organic MARLEY coffee? I am a coffee connoisseur, and this coffee is UNbeatable!
3. Finally, I have been conquering anxiety disorder, not with strictly prescription medications, which often have dangerous and potentially lethal side-effects, but with all-natural BLISS, which has virtually NO side-effects at all! It’s well-worth it!
I feel healthier, stronger, and, well, I have much more energy than I used to, and I lost some weight, in a GOOD way!
I didn’t realize that I was in an Interracial Relationship until someone told me. And that someone was my girlfriend. We were dating for a couple of weeks, and our native languages were different. We were born in different countries and we have been exposed to different cultures. But I didn’t really think our races seemed to be worthy of mention until the entire world together with my girlfriend decided to get interested in how our (non-existent) children would look like. And now that I think about it, despite its flaws, interracial dating is pretty awesome.
1. Beautiful Kids
All kids are beautiful, but somehow there is an added expectation that mixed kids are more beautiful. This may be completely untrue but it’s nice to know that if you ever decide to have kids, they will be created from a larger and more diverse genetic pool…

The biggest problems of interracial relationships is that one culture always seems to overshadow the other, and as a Dominican-American woman living in China with a Chinese boyfriend. I’m sure one can venture a guess as to which culture may be the provider of shade. Today as I spent a beautiful day outside with a wonderful group of Latin-esque women in Shanghai, I recalled what it is like to once again be surrounded by my culture and none other. Having spent more than 5 hours in the company of Spanish speakers instead of English or Chinese, it was as if a different part of myself arose amid the chatter of quick confidantes.
While I have done so much to learn about my counter parts culture and heritage, from language and culture classes to lessons on feng shui and Chinese Traditional Medicine. Yet, I cannot say the same to be true…

It is a known saying that “Time and Tide waits for no one”. This is completely true as time keeps moving at its pace, without giving any chance to pause, stop, fast forward or rewind it. With the change in time, there also arise a lot of changes, which develop or evolve over the passage of time.
One such phenomenon that has evolved over time is Interracial Dating. Although it had been in existence ever since the 1967 era, the acceptance and desire that it has experienced off late is completely exceptional to what it was before. In earlier times it was considered as a sort of taboo and those who even opted for it were not accepted so positively by the society. Also, in most of the cases, people did not even give it a serious thought knowing the disheartening response of the society and relatives.
